Tax-Pertise Services will be looking to hire a motivated and experienced Income Tax Preparer for the 2025 tax season. This is a seasonal contract position beginning with part-time pre-season training in early 2025, followed by full-time employment during the regular tax season that begins on February 18, 2025 and ends on April 30, 2025.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tax returns for individuals and small businesses by reviewing tax documents and financial records, and processing simple to complex income tax returns using our professional software system

  • Communicate with clients to ensure complete and accurate information is gathered

  • Answer any client questions clearly, accurately, and with confidence

  • Collaborate with other income tax preparers and administrative staff within the office to work toward an efficient and effective workflow

  • Ensure client confidentiality and privacy

Senior Income Tax Preparer Additional Responsibilities:

  • Process client pickups and payments and answer any client questions clearly, accurately, and with confidence

  • Assist with eFile batch preparation and submission

  • Complete various administrative tasks such as eFile audits, filing, data entry to internal ledgers, preparing and executing client reminder calls

  • Perform settlement and closing procedures on night shifts where applicable

The job is fast paced and requires an efficient, motivated, and experienced candidate. 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of prior tax preparation experience with professional tax preparation software

  • Completed course of study in tax preparation and/or accounting

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in person

  • Previous experience in a customer service environment

  • Knowledge and experience with a Windows based computer system

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Prior bookkeeping experience an asset

 Schedule: 

  • Guaranteed minimum of 35-40 hours/week for the duration of tax season

  • Must be available to work Mondays to Saturdays inclusive during the peak season, with a flexible work shift between the following hours (may be negotiable, based on availability):

    • 9:00 am to 5:00 pm or 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday (8 hour shift)

    • 9:00 am to 5:00 pm or 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday (8 hour shift)

    • 9:00 am to 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Saturdays (4 hour shift)

Compensation:

  • $22 - $28 / hour, commensurate with experience
